I'm Geniece, the proud founder of Birdcage Ink -- a mobile bookstore with a big dream: to celebrate the art of storytelling and build a strong, creative literary culture right here in our community.
Birdcage Ink isn’t just about selling books. It’s about connecting people, sparking imaginations, and creating a space where stories come alive. We handpick a variety of books for every kind of reader—whether you’re into thrilling page-turners, thought-provoking non-fiction, or anything in between, there’s something for you here.
It all started in Bakersfield, CA a town in Kern County—a place some might overlook when it comes to literary energy. But we saw something special: a deep hunger for stories, a drive for creativity, and a need for spaces where people could come together. That’s when Birdcage Ink hit the road, becoming a mobile hub for book lovers to meet, chat, and explore.
Our mission?
To build a welcoming space where everyone feels at home—a place to get lost in a good book or find new friends who love stories as much as you do. Birdcage Ink is more than a bookstore. It’s a traveling community center, a spot for inspiration, and a spark for conversations that matter.
In 2021, we expanded our mission with Birdcage Ink Publishing, supporting local authors and uplifting Kern County’s diverse stories and voices. We’re passionate about making sure our community’s stories are heard and celebrated.
